College Coaches, Please Watch This High School Senior Shoot 3s

September 5, 2016

Is it Kobe? Is it a GIF? Nope — it’s a high schooler shooting back-to-back 3s like she can do it in her sleep. (She probably can.)

Destiny Faith Brooks is a high school senior from Gilmer, Texas, and she’s got her sights set on playing college basketball. Thousands of Twitter users started paying attention to her, and she hopes college athletic programs do the same.

Brooks thinks she’s not being scouted because of her height — she’s only 5’5", which is relatively short for a college or professional women’s basketball player.

"I feel colleges are passing me up because of my height," Brooks said. "... It’s not the size of the dog, it's the size of the fight in the dog. Heart over height.”

After people started liking and retweeting earlier videos of her game, Brooks was motivated to post a better video. And while going viral is nice, she really hopes the video reaches some college coaches.

"If I could get any college’s attention, it would be Stanford University or Baylor University," Brooks said. "They both have the most amazing medical programs, and I would love to be a part of them."

Brooks wants to be a cardiovascular surgeon, and she's adamant that she’s a student athlete — and student comes first.

Meanwhile, Twitter can’t get enough of watching her hoop.
