After SCOTUS Affirmative Action Ruling, #StayMadAbby Is Back

June 23, 2016

Now that the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld affirmative action at the University of Texas, the hashtag #StayMadAbby is back for round two.

We can thank Black Twitter for the hashtag's first appearance in 2015 when the case Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin was argued before the Supreme Court.

This time, Twitter users are also reacting to the SCOTUS decision with #BeckyWithTheBadGrades.

Affirmative action disproportionately benefits white women, so many on social media are using these hashtags to address white privilege — with humor.
