George Zimmerman, the man accused of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, is ramping up efforts to raise money to pay off legal bills. Here’s WFLX.

"He announced on his website that if you donate to his fund he will send you a thank you card personally signed by George.” (WFLX)

“That money will cover his living expenses and legal costs … a posting will show how every penny is spent.” (WFTV)

Zimmerman’s fund reportedly raised nearly $200,000 in the weeks following his arrest, but that money quickly faded when a judge issued a $1 million bond and his wife was charged with perjury.

“Currently, the balance of the George Zimmerman Defense Fund is at its lowest, and new funds must be raised to support George’s living expenses and legal costs through the end of the Self Defense Immunity Hearing and/or trial,” Zimmerman’s legal team claims on its website.

The Star-Telegram reports Zimmerman’s defense attorney claims more than 2,000 people have made contributions to the new fund for as much $1,000.

The website also states the defense fund will be under new management in December in an effort to raise even more funds.
