YouTube wants you to be glued to it. The site has unveiled a radical redesign last week -- but its changes are getting some backlash from users.

“Whether you’re into music, fashion, politics or sports, there is a channel for every interest. Click on channels to find the one matters to you and add them to your homepage. The first thing you’ll see are the channels recommended to you.”

But the new look and features aren’t sitting well among YouTube’s huge consumer base, Metro reports.

“Some users have labelled the redesign a 'mess', while others have complained that they are unable to remove videos that are automatically recommended for them … other users have complained they are unable to remove offensive comments from underneath their videos.”

And the new connection of users’ YouTube accounts with their Google and Facebook accounts is also under attack. Here is Canadian Content.

“Strangely, YouTube now looks more like a social networking web site by Apple than it does a video sharing site. A lot of the new look borrows the gray and black elements that have been introduced to Google's search engine recently.”

Still, an analyst told BBC that this is only natural --- as the saying goes, nobody likes change, and the backlash won’t last.

"The trouble with the kind of instant reaction is that most of the people who post their comments are those with extreme reactions, and their yearning for the old design will probably dissipate as they get used to it"

And YouTuber Phil DeFranco, who is among the Top 25 Most Subscribed channels on YouTube, agrees -- saying YouTube addicts will stick with the site.

“I saw a lot of you guys on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube comment like ‘Freaking out’ about the YouTube homepage and YouTube channels that a lot of people are getting switched over to and calm down. You’re not gonna leave, really, you are like ‘I’m going to Vimeo.’ No. You go to YouTube because at least 20 percent of the videos do not suck.”

In addition to the new look - YouTube  added 100 new channels of original programming back in October.
