YouTube hit another milestone Tuesday -- the site reported it has reached 4 billion daily video views. KABC says the growth is extremely rapid.

“ … it was just 3 billion, eight months ago and every minute, 60 more hours of video are uploaded to youtube … ”

PCMag quotes Google’s Vice President of Content -- who says the site is rivaling regular TV.

"It's a wonderful, wonderful story, not possible five years ago and is possible today. Many of the top channels within YouTube rank, in terms of viewership, with the top cable channels. … It's unbelievable when you think that ten years ago you could barely view a page on the Internet.”

PCMag also reports users are now uploading an hour of video every second. RedOrbit explains where all the growth is coming from.

“Viewers are no longer attached to their computers. YouTube works on many platforms including tablets, smartphones, and televisions. They continually push to add more professional-grade content.

Still --- Tech Crunch notes -- right now, YouTube isn’t making much money on most of these videos.

“Only 3 billion YouTube videos a week are being monetized, the company says.”

And YouTube has big plans ahead. The site has signed 100 original video programming deals in all with media partners including Madonna and Jay-Z.
