Joe Wilson's outburst has already garnered a lot of media attention, and none of it good. Still, there are some arguments that say it's no big deal.

What is unfortunate, if not unexpected, is that now we are starting to hear the claim that the "You lie!" comment had a racial motivation. Those clames were made first by a congresswoman, and then by former President Carter.

It is, of course, absurd to suggest that race has not been a factor in this administration. Clearly many people probably voted against Obama because of his race, but far more (including many white voters) voted for him BECAUSE of his race.

So it was only a matter of time before some opponents to Obama's policies would be accused of racial prejudice, even if their opposition was sincere and based only on the issue at hand.

As has since been pointed-out, playing the "race card" often backfires on those who play it. I hope that happens in this case, because if this gets traction, it means that the rest of Obama's presidency will be embroiled in a debate about whether people are "allowed" to voice their legitmate opposition to his program without being automatically deemed racist.

Mr Wilson is not to be commended, of course. He is a passionate person who left emotions take hold of him and he apologized, end of the issue. All the bla, bla, bla around this issue is pointless and a waste of time when we should be concentrating on other issues more important to America. Please we already had enough. Move on.

The next day, a political pig dog bovver boy in Australia criticized the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia for her "shit eating" grin during a parliamentary debate. This was reported on the national broadcaster's hourly radio news report - and hardly a word has been spoken in the media about such a disgraceful attack. I fear we have gone down a sad path in Australia, especially when it is contrasted with the disgust and scorn (rightly) heaped on Joe Wilson.

As of the Sunday talk shows, the man is clearly unrepentant. I saw a man who just can't stand that Barack Obama is our President.

I think this piece is great. I love watching Obama's reaction. I guess the question is: Who's telling the truth? Wilson knows the ins and outs of the health care bill, so he has some credibility . Obviously he shouldn't have said what he did, but he apologized and Obama forgave him.

I can't help but link this to the shoe-throwing incident that Bush encountered in Iraq. Then again, there is really no need for an outburst as such. It's absolutely ungentlemanly.

He is the President of the United States. And should be respected as such.

I agree, it's embarrassing for Wilson if it's anything. And disrespectful. Granted, the man has apologized, and even the President has stated he accepts the apology/wants to move on. But you have to wonder, could that excitable outburst have been fueled by health professional money? Kind of fishy.

I never get sick of watching that opening clip. Biden looks confused, President Obama looks pissed, but neither of them match the look of icy hatred that Pelosi is muggin. She seriously looks like she is gonna hand out a beatdown it's classic.
