Is your bat cave missing that something special? Well - today could be your lucky day.
The world’s only turbine-powered replica Batmobile is up for sale on Ebay and yes – it’s the classic – Tim Burton era Batmobile. Owner Casey Putsch built the vehicle from the ground up over five months to showcase his skills as a race car builder. He even used a Boeing turbo shaft helicopter engine.
A writer for Wired says as far as replicas go – this one is as accurate as it gets.
“Fans have been building replicas of the Batmobilesince Adam West wore his satin cape and high-waisted utility belt, but Putsch’s is among the most faithful renditions we’ve seen. … It’s as close to the real deal as physics permits, right down to the front-mounted turbine engine.”
And even better – it’s street legal.
“…themean machineis street registered in the US, so you can roll like the Dark Knight without fear of the police pursuing you..” (Engadget)
The vehicle’s engine runs on jet fuel, kerosene, or diesel and according to PC Magazine – you don’t need Bruse Wayne’s cash to maintain it.
“… annual maintenance on the Batmobile is actually less than that of a standard production car. And, no, the car's hotter-than-average exhaust gasses won't destroy anyone who dares to idle up behind your Dark Knight of a ride. Given the impressive whine of the turboshaft engine, however, you might very well make your fellow street."
Interested? You can find a link to the auction in our transcript section. The Batmobile has a current pricetag of $620,000.
