Earlier this week there was much ado about incoming House committee chairs of the 113th Congress:

CHRIS MATTHEWS, VIA MSNBC: “What's wrong with this picture? ... All white, all male. … Did the Republicans learn anything from the election?”

RYAN LIZZA, ON CNN: “Only 10% of the Republican House caucus is female. And it's about 20 women in the Republican House caucus.”

Well, all that was before chairs were announced for EVERY House committee. And as it turns out, there will be one woman chairing a House Committee.

Michigan Rep. Candice Miller will chair the House Administration Committee. House Speaker John Boehner made the announcement Friday.

The House Administration Committee oversees federal elections and “day-to-day House operations.”

Mississippi Rep. Gregg Harper was gunning for the job and actually had more seniority than Miller, reports The Washington Post’s Ed O’Keefe.

And seniority is usually a big factor in the selection of committee chairs. But for critics of what looked to be an all-white male cast of House committee chairs — Miller’s appointment isn’t enough.

The Atlantic Wire’s Alexander Abad-Santos writes, Adding Miller to the mix doesn't exactly level the playing field...”

A chair for the House Ethics Committee has yet to be announced.
