“There’s some watches and warnings out 11 states have flood watches from Georgia to Maine. Twelve states from Florida to Maine have wind weather watches or advisories and eleven states have winter weather watches, warnings or advisories.” (Via ABC)
AAA says 43.4 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles from their homes during the Thanksgiving holiday. And more than 3 million are traveling by air. (Via Fox News)
But the gusty winds, snow, rain or ice from the storm is making air travel challenging, causing more than 200 flights to be canceled and another 5,000 to be delayed, according to the Los Angeles Times.
FlightStats.com reports airports delayed the most include Chicago’s O’Hare International, Denver International, Charlotte Douglas International and Cleveland Hopkins International.
But for those driving through the storm, proceed with caution.
CNN reports the storm is responsible for 11 deaths and more than 100 car crashes across the nation. One wreck in Texas caused by icy road conditions resulted in the deaths of three people.
Weather experts predict the storm will continue to cause delays into Thanksgiving day and say to expect heavy rain and gusty winds in the East Coast with possible ice and snow. (Via The Weather Channel)
