Big news from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge— the couple announced their baby is due in July.

In the statement from the royal palace there is only mention of a baby— which might disappoint those who had speculations about twins. The statement reads:

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July.”

BBC:

“Now, Kate, who has been suffering from a severe form a morning sickness is said to be improving. And that was evident on Friday when she attended the private viewing of her first official portrait.”

As a writer for People Magazine points out—it’s a coincidence the baby is expected in July because the month actually holds sentimental value for the royal family.

A July birth would mean the baby shares a birth month with the late Princess Diana, who was born on July 1. The announcement likely means scans have been done to show that the pregnancy is going according to plan.

According to E! News—
“Although it may be too soon to determine the baby's gender, the blue-blooded bundle of joy will already have a title waiting for it regardless, as Queen Elizabeth II recently decreed that her next great-grandchild's title will be prince or princess and be referred to as His or Her Royal Highness.”

The BBC says if everything goes according to plan, in six months when the baby is born, someone will come out of the palace and attach a notice to the railings giving details of the birth.
