For years, fans of the 1985 cult classic, "The Goonies," have wished for a sequel. And now, that wish might have just been granted.
"Ya, but you know what, this one, this one right here? This was my dream, my wish and it didn't come true."
Well, it hasn't come true yet. But director Richard Donner told TMZ a second 'Goonies' is in the works.
DONNER: "We are doing a 'Goonies' sequel."
Now, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let's consider what we know.
We know that Donner wants to bring back the original cast, many of whom, like Josh Brolin and Sean Astin, have gone on to star in major films. But that is about all we know.
No word on a release date, anything about the possible screen play or even how big a role the old cast might play in the new flick. But it seems the stars never lost faith in a reunion possibility.
Astin, who played Mikey back in the day, was sure of the possibility. Telling IGN "It will happen. I'm 1,000 percent certain there will be a sequel. I will bet my children on it."
As they have done for the past two decades fans will have to wait to learn more. Good thing Goonies never say die.
