Israel has already tested a missile which is capable of reaching Iran.
Now, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is trying to persuade his cabinet to launch a military strike against Iran’s nuclear program.
Are these signals of a new conflict in Middle East?
Al Jazeera has the story,

“Israel has test fired a ballistic missile which is capable of striking Iran. The defense Ministry says that it was testing its missile system from its Palmachim military base. Israel has an equipment widely believed to be capable of carrying war heads. The government could be preparing a strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities.”

Could be seems a long way from -- will.
Many Israeli’s have long called for action against Iran.
Haaretz says Netenyahu has waited too long.

“...the threat sounds hollow. The internal disputes in Israel, concerns about a destructive war of attrition and uncertainty about how Egypt will respond are all serving as brakes on the aircrafts' wheels. Netanyahu waited two years, only to discover that now, it is much harder for him to strike.”

Several international media sources are suggesting ways to prevent a full-scale conflict. The Guardian says attacking now would be the wrong approach.

“An attack on Iran would halt and reverse moves to reform. The Arab spring would become an Arab winter with disastrous consequences for US and European interests as well as Arab societies, including Saudi Arabia...Engagement with Iran is essential even if it continues to appear determined to possess nuclear weapons, or the ability to produce them."

Some members of the Israeli media agree.
YNetNews opposes a possible attack on Iran.

“There is a high probability that Iran would respond by directing missile barrages at Israeli cities and at vital facilities. Such attacks could be supplemented by missiles from the Gaza Strip and from Lebanon”

Others, like Israeli National News columnist Aaron Klein says Israel is preparing for a different war -- with Syria.

“The visible Israeli military preparations, including this week's missile tests, most likely are related to the strong possibility of a U.S.-NATO-led campaign against Israel's Syrian neighbor to the north which is a key partner to Iran.”

According to a Haaretz poll, Israelis are almost evenly divided on a possible Israeli attack on Iran.

41 percent support a strike.
39 percent opposed.
20 percent are undecided.
