The Wikipedia community is in an uproar. Fox News broke a story that child porn lurked in the depths of the encyclopedia's commons, causing administrators and founder Jimmy Wales to delete hundreds of possibly pornographic images. Now Wiki users are debating whether the content was art, education or something more sinister.

We've got perspectives from Vanity Fair, Fox News, BBC and Crunch Gear

Vanity Fair suggests former Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger is behind the child porn allegations.

"...Sanger alerted the F.B.I. that Wikipedia was 'knowingly distributing child pornography'... [He] took his case to Fox News, a sort of people’s encyclopedia of dispassionate cynicism."

Fox News reports Wikipedia will be more committed to monitoring content in the future.

" ... Wikipedia is now changing its ways, saying it will start controlling its sexually explicit content. One other thing, this might be particularly disappointing to some at the SEC. One less place for SEC workers to check out their porn."

The BBC reports some in the Wikipedia community aren't happy the images were deleted without discussion.

"Some ... argued that the decision to delete was undemocratic and taken too quickly."

And blog Crunch Gear questions whether all the controversial content was even pornographic.

"What type of pornographic content? ... [A] NAKED MAN AND WOMAN in the article about humans ... [S]top being babies."

So, should Wikipedia's founders be able to delete questionable material? And what type of content goes too far?
