It didn’t take long for trade rumors to start up again after the end of the NBA lockout.
Free agent Superstar Chris Paul is looking for a trade-- and at first-- rumor was he was going to the Celtics.
That one fell through, so now analysts wonder is he heading to New York?
ESPN analyst Jalen Rose weighs in.
“I’m not buying it this season because as Mark just mentioned the Knicks don’t have the parts. They gave up the majority of their parts as it relates to depth to get Carmelo Anthony to pair him with Amare Stoudemire.”
And Ken Berger with CBS Sports adds getting Paul to the Knicks is not just a money problem. it’s a post-lockout tactical issue.
“The thing that’s going to make it more complicated for Chris Paul is that the rules are different now. So he can’t get the same max extension that Carmelo was able to get.”
But that might not be a bad thing for the Knicks. An ESPN New York writer says he would rather see the Knicks go after another superstar, Orlando’s center Dwight Howard.
“Howard is bigger and better than Chris Paul, and he might be more attainable between now and the trade deadline, too ... If the Knicks can’t deliver a credible bid for Paul, they certainly can deliver one for Howard.”
But what if Paul and Howard joined forces? A CBS Eye on Basketball writer suggests the pair would be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA.
“Versus the trio in Miami or the duet in New York, Howard and Paul are a combination of players who actually mesh together. The best pick and roll center in the league with the best pick and roll point guard.”
Whatever Paul decides to do, one Hornets 247 blogger asks Paul to leave the right way. He praises Paul and says no one else, except Drew Brees, has done more for the community.
“What’s important to fans like me is that you’re honest. Most of us are grown up, and we appreciate being told the truth... Tell us what’s in your heart– whatever that is. We can take it.”
Analysts say Paul could also wind up with the Los Angeles Lakers, the Clippers, or the Golden State Warriors.
