Will Lion finally roar on July 20th?
The release date of Apple’s latest overhaul of the Mac operating system has been churning in the rumor mill for weeks. (Video: Apple)
First-- tech insiders believed it was coming out July 6th.
When that proved to be wishful thinking-- July 14th became the new date.
And now?
All signs point to a launch-- sometime this week.
Apple Insider has this prediction.
“According to people with proven track records who would be in a position to know, the new product launches are set to occur later this week. Specifically, one person said the products would be released on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.”
Since--according to Apple-- Lion is coming out in July.
And since-- we’re running out of July days--
It makes sense that Lion will pounce sooner rather than later.
A Geek.com blogger says...
“The whole date-change thing is making our heads spin...However, we can breathe easy – we think....Wednesday will...allow us to move on to the next Apple rumor: the iPhone 5, of course.”
Apple has become notorious for its super-secret launch dates. A blogger over at Three Guys and Podcast says-- in this case-- the tech giant got away with it because...
“...Lion is a total software launch. There is no external distribution, no shipping, no warehousing and no delivery to stores...A couple of us here ...have said semi-jokingly that Steve Jobs can change the date anytime he wants.”
There have also been reports -- or, well-- rumors, that Apple will launch new hardware alongside Lion.
