Want a little ice cream sandwich on your tech menu? The latest, greatest Android phone is being rumored -- and it is reportedly loaded: A super amoled HD phone - dubbed ‘Nexus Prime’ - produced by Samsung - with an OMAP 4460 processor.
BGR’s Jonathan Geller has the exclusive scoop on the latest sweet tech treat.
“….the phone could launch as the ‘Google Nexus Prime.’ ...Google’s onslaught of high-end Android devices isn’t going to stop anytime soon. With the Motorola DROID and Motorola XOOM, Google launched its flagship Android devices with one carrier and one OEM, but we’re hearing ...Google could be working with multiple carriers and multiple OEMs on their own ‘exclusive’ Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) halo devices, and that they may all launch around the same time.”
That Ice Cream Sandwich is the key. It’s the hi-def Android OS - meant to sync up differences between Android handsets and tablets. And that last bit - about multiple carriers - is key. GrindGadget explains why.
“This means that there could be a version from Samsung, LG, Motorola, and HTC, on all of the carriers, all of them running Ice Cream Sandwich. This isn’t surprising because Google’s model has always been about choice and this provides the consumer with just that... this would allow consumers to get the pure Google experience on any carrier by any manufacturer.”

So what does it mean -- in the larger tech scheme?
Into-mobile reminds -- this is a war, man! And -- with a move like this, Google intends to win it.
“With the impending iPhone 5 and possibly the 4S on the way, Google knows that it needs to do something to keep that 400,000 daily activation number from slipping, and its plan may be on the simple side. While Apple will likely always stay the top-selling phone on its own, Google’s strength in numbers will help soften the blow, and historically that strategy has worked very well.”
Mobile Crunch notes, a pre-Thanksgiving day release is planned -- just in time for holiday shopping.
“The source also promised a pre-Thanksgiving release for the flagship, and if true, we’ll certainly have quite a bit to be thankful for.”
