Hello, I’m Charlotte Bellis.  That was a trailer for the movie ‘Watchmen,’ opening in theaters Friday.

It’s one of the most anticipate films so far this year. The movie is an adaptation of a highly acclaimed graphic novel by the same name with a fanatical fan base.

The film is set in an alternate reality in 1980s America, where superheroes are outlawed and the world is careening towards nuclear obliteration.

‘Watchmen’ has ignited a flurry of headlines in the U.S. …

The Denver Post sees the movie as a timely metaphor, calling it “A dark movie for dark times”

The LA Times asks “Epic film…or epic fail?”

The Mercury News answers, “a true epic.”

The Wall Street Journal says “Pow! Bam! 'Watchmen' Batters Public”

The film has also already sparked a number of Youtube user reviews, some from accomplished reviewers, some from fans…

“Fanatical zealots, the rest of you.  Saw Watchmen today… pretty good...” (YouTube)

“The movie just goes- boof!  (Sigh) (Machine gun sounds)  You might be able to tell, I’m very excited about this film.” (YouTube)

“If I’m gonna give this movie a score, I’d have to give it a solid B-plus.”

Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times likes the unique nature of the film...

“…another bold exercise in the liberation of the superhero movie. It’s a compelling visceral film — sound, images and characters combined into a decidedly odd visual experience…” (Chicago Sun-Times)

The Wall Street Journal takes the opposite perspective… saying director Zack Snyder went too far…

“But then elegance isn't Zack Snyder's bag; a certain sort of impact is. ‘Watchmen’ establishes him as Hollywood's reigning master of psychic suffocation.” (The Wall Street Journal)

So will you go see ‘Watchmen’?  If you’ve already seen it, what’s your take on the film?
