A series of deadly Israeli air strikes in the Gaza strip has the world holding its breath to see what’s next – and it may be a ground offensive.

Chaos and anger erupted after Israel launched a military campaign against the political infrastructure of Hamas in response to a series of rocket attacks.

We’re following coverage of the conflict from YouTube, BBC, Russia Today, Fox News and CNN.

The BBC gives us the perspective from the front lines as Israel launched its air strikes this past weekend.

“It began with a massive coordinated wave of airstrikes on Saturday morning.  Police stations and Hamas security and government buildings were destroyed.  Tunnels used for smuggling were targeted too.  The number of deaths reported is of an unprecedented scale here.  The morgues of Gaza have been filled and the hospitals are struggling to treat what they say are hundreds of injured."  (BBC)

With more than 300 people dead and more than 1,000 injured recovery operations appear grim.

Humanitarian concerns are growing as the flow of aid into the area as ceased. Russia Today examines the strains on Medical treatment and relief efforts.

“As many as seven hundred fifty thousand people in Gaza relied on the distribution of aid from these agencies, and none of this aid, and I’m talking here about food, medical supplies, fuel supplies, none of it has managed to get into Gaza since Saturday morning.  Hospitals still report being overcrowded, doctors say that they simply cannot cope with the number of wounded, patients are still being treated on the floors of hospitals, with patients being evacuated to Egypt, in the hope that Egyptian doctors there will be able to treat some of the wounded.” (Russia Today)

Fox News gives us a look into the tactical situation in the area as Israel continues attacks.

"Today, we have seen a significant amount of air strikes over Gaza, and out in total, over 300 airstrikes since Saturday. Among some of the targets that have been hit in the last couple hours, a home right next to the private residence of the prime minister, the ministry of cultural affairs. Also we're told that a laboratory at university, Gaza University was hit. It was being used to manufacture weapons. Day three of this conflict. 300 airstrikes so far, this conflict very much continues." (FOX News)

The situation continues to deteriorate with the looming possibility of a ground offensive. We go to CNN on the Gaza Border.

“Well the Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak left the door open for a ground offensive. From here I can see six or seven tanks. We are about two and half kilometers from the Gaza Border. The tanks are in place, the bulldozers are here, the armed personal carriers, the soldiers. They’re all standing by. They’ve most probably been told be prepared to go in get yourself battle ready but they haven’t been given the go ahead at this point. I can see them they’re just milling around at this point.” (CNN)

Is the massive Israeli campaign into Gaza justified? Will it lead to concession from Hamas or could it provoke more violence on both sides? What’s your position? Please visit our links and give us your perspective.
