Had enough social media for one lifetime? Well - too bad. There’s a new network on the block and this one comes with a twist. The Washington Post explains.

“Twitter co-founders Biz Stone and Evan Williams have taken on a new project under the banner of their old home, The Obvious Corporation. … It’s called “Lift,” and the specifics about what it does are still held pretty tightly under wraps.”

So what is it? And what does it do? It seems the network’s creators are intent on preserving this social media mystery. According to Metro, in an email to those requesting notification of the site’s launch- the creators write--

“What is Lift? We're interested in ways new technology can help unlock human potential, especially through the use of positive reinforcement. That's all we can tell you right now.“

Fortunately, writers at ReadWriteWeb think they may have found a clue to unraveling the riddle -- and it’s in the networks past.

“Back when it was called Mibbles, users joined multiple groups with names like Happydog (as in ‘I want to keep my dog happy’), Love or Home. Then they gave themselves Awards when they achieved accomplishment leading towards the goals they were grouped around.”

And if the company sticks to that model writers at The Atlantic Wire believe it can do something that Twitter has had trouble doing in the past -- make money.

“The model actually sounds kind of fascinating, mostly because it sounds like it has great business potential. ...a company that expressly collects peoples goals and desires is an advertiser's dream.”

But writers at ZDNet aren’t so sure. Their warning -- don’t believe the hype.

“It’s really difficult to see where the Obvious Corporation is going with this. They’ve probably made it so confusing and mysterious just to generate a lot of hype, which could turn out to be a real let down. For all we know, it might not be a social network at all.”
