As the swine flu spreads all over the globe, more people are becoming wary of traveling in close quarters.

Hello, I’m Valerie Chew, and you’re watching Newsy.com.

We begin with MSNBC’s Morning Joe on the outbreak.. and a way to help spot potentially sick passengers…

“There are unconfirmed or confirmed cases all over the world.  We’ve got them in Israel, also in Spain, in Denmark, in the UK, Canada, in the US, of course, concerns they may be spreading into Asia.”
“When passengers walk through this particular screening point in the airport, literally they get a body heat signature and it tells the scanner whether they might have a fever of 100.4 or higher.”
(MSNBC)

The European Union is urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel to the US and Mexico… the EU Health Commissioner spoke about the risk…

“Personally, I would try to avoid non-essential travel to the areas which are reported to be in the center of the cluster in order to minimize the personal risk and to reduce the potential risk to spread the infection to other people.” (The Europe Channel)

Europeans aren’t the only ones worried about the spread of the disease.

Carnival Cruise Line’s stock dropped as much as 14% since the outbreak started.

Seeking Alpha recommends avoiding travel-related stocks until the swine-flu “hype” has passed.

“Actual bookings for things like cruises and flights may decline if this fear doesn't pass over quickly… Eventually, there will be a buying opportunity after the fear subsides, but I would not be buying any of these stocks today.” (Seeking Alpha)

Carnival made a statement saying they’re monitoring the spread in Mexico but still keeping voyages scheduled to ports in places like Cozumel and Progreso.

"… there have been no reports of guests exhibiting symptoms of swine flu on Carnival’s ships…We do not anticipate that our guests' cruise experience will be impacted by this type of illness and will not be making any adjustments to our itineraries."
