Has the gotcha guy-- been got?
Chris Hansen made a name for himself as the host of Dateline NBC’s “To Catch a Predator”-- luring would-be pedophiles into the hot seat- and on camera.
But now- a twist of irony- as the National Enquirer boasts of a bust.
“The tabloid The National Enquirer says it has video of the 51-year-old Hansen cheating on his own wife. He was allegedly seen taking a young Florida TV reporter to a romantic dinner at the Ritz before going back to her apartment for the night.” (Fox News)
The Enquirer hasn’t posted the video of Hansen’s alleged date - and so far- no comment from Hansen himself. A blogger for the San Fransisco Chronicle points out...
“...it's the National Enquirer, so help yourself to a heaping plate of skepticism. But while we reserve judgment pending actual comment from the principals, the evident irony of the Enquirer's tactics has made the story go viral on the web.”
Viral indeed. The Miami New Times reports- Twitter was littered with “Why don’t you have a seat over here?” jokes. But the New Times blogger seems to think- 51-year-old Hansen had it coming.
“Yes, yes -- we're supposed to be really mean to pedophiles. But that's the job of the courts and big prisoners named Treestump, not a guy who's supposed to be an investigative reporter. The man does not have an ethical bone in his body, and now even his wife and kids know it.”
But a Zap2it blogger counters- whether or not you like Hansen’s sting style- keep things in perspective.
“Hey, pedophiles who are rejoicing about Hansen getting a taste of his own medicine: Sit down. You're still pedophiles. He wins.”
The Daily Mail reports the Enquirer’s sources say the affair has been going on for about four months. Hansen lives in Connecticut with his wife and their two kids.
