The new season of Fall TV kicked off this week and the ratings are in! Let’s find out which shows found themselves at the top of the charts.

The week started off with a bang when Two And A Half Men premiered to a huge audience of 27 million. The show has been topping “Most Anticipated Shows” lists for weeks as fans were anxious to see how Ashton Kutcher would fare after replacing ousted star, Charlie Sheen.

Does the ratings spike spell out long term success for the series? Maybe not. TVLine says that there’s just not enough humor to be mined from Kutcher’s character, but Entertainment Weekly isn’t so fast to count him out:

"Kutcher's performance was good, nearly as poker-faced fine as Sheen's was... Sheen really had a knack for this gig, [but] Kutcher will probably prove just as skilled."

Monday may have been ruled by Two and a Half Men, but Tuesday night went to the new girl in town. Tuesday night’s chart topper was a FOX show -- but not the one you might think. Hulu's The Morning Show After has the scoop.

Ginger: "Okay our first number comes from Tuesday night television... 10 million."
Brian: "Easy, Glee premiere viewers."
Ginger: "Nope, it’s actually the viewers for New Girl which did better than Glee by more than a million, because as it turns out, aggressive viral marketing is more effective than spending $9 million on a 3D movie."
Brian: "Also, New Girl used very little auto-tune."

But why the drop in ratings for Glee? Some cite the lackluster story lines, but experts suggest fans might just be tired of Glee. The Hollywood Reporter explains:

“The summer concerts, rumors about cast changes, the downloads, the Oxygen reality series. Perhaps the franchise has spread itself too thin in an attempt to make ancillary [revenue].”

Gwyneth Paltrow: “And the Emmy goes to... Modern Family.”

After sweeping the award show, this big happy family lived up to its hype when the show premiered to 14.3 million viewers, up almost 20% from last year.

Also, following Emmy success, was comedy The Big Bang Theory which rounded out the week as Thursday’s highest rated premiere.

The show was up against some stiff competition as it beat out The X Factor, Person of Interest, and the Mentalist. It also overshadowed NBC’s comedy line-up.

Ratings for The Office were down 38% from last fall. The show is returning for its final season, its first without boss Michael Scott.
