There's a lot of plastic in the ocean. We're talking at least 5.25 trillion pieces. And 269,000 tons of that floats to the surface — that's about 90,000 cars worth. (YouTube / epSos.de)

But there might be a solution. It's an invention called Seabin, created by two Australians. It sucks in debris and filters water out. And because the Seabin floats on the surface, fish aren't harmed. (Video via The Seabin Project)

Keep in mind that it takes somewhere between 450 and 1,000 years for plastic to decompose.

And all this plastic is endangering wildlife, messing with our water supply and the environmental balance. (Video via The Leatherback Trust)

Currently, Seabin is still in the crowdfunding stages, but it's gotten attention on social media.
