Hello I’m Christina McAusland and you’re watching Newsy.com.

The historic, 100th day of Barack Obama’s presidency has arrived.

The Washington Post asks several Americans to recall some of the new administration’s actions in office so far…

“Big bailout bills, movement towards regulation. Economic reform. Positive changes in education. Well I think he’s going to stop the torture. Stem cell research. Closing down Guantanamo. He’s just come in spending money like a crazy cowboy. Reaching across the aisle working with the other side hasn’t happened so much. He and Michelle went to England and had tea or whatever with the queen.”  (The Washington Post)

The Los Angeles Times asks…

“100 Days: the test of a leader or a journalistic ‘Hallmark holiday’?" (The Los Angeles Times)

And the newspaper reports White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says the Obama administration is ‘playing along.’

A CBS News/New York Times poll reports:
“68 percent of Americans see President Obama as ‘a different kind of politician’, while one in four say he is no different than the majority of his political counterparts.”  (CBS)

MSNBC’s Chuck Todd makes sense of the one trend in the polls…

“They don’t have a lot of confidence in Washington. They don’t have a lot of confidence in the two major parties, but President Obama right now, he’s sort of like this seal of approval – if his name is on it, if he’s calling for it, if he’s doing it, the public is giving him the benefit of the doubt.” (MSNBC)

CNBC brings an economic perspective from a former Labor Secretary, whose own report card for the President is mixed:

“Well certainly an A for activism and an A for effort, Bill…”
(editors note: CUT to shot of report card and the anchor’s words below)
Anchor: “There’s a glaring F on there for the bailout, what’s that about?”
“Well, on the bail out I think there is still a great question about whether this was the right way to go; the banks are actually lending less than they did before the bailout.”
(CNBC)

Politico focuses on the GOP’s hundred days. Dana Perino, former press secretary to President George W. Bush, tells the organization that…

“Even the most silver-tongued devil couldn’t say with a straight face that the last three months have been smooth. Some days there were so many messages flying and stories changing, it was hard to keep up.”
(Politico)

Do the first 100 days really matter? What overall grade would you give President Obama?
