Music producer Sir George Martin, known to many as "the fifth Beatle," is dead at age 90.
Martin is credited with signing the British rock band to the small Parlophone Records in 1962. He went on to produce more than 700 records.
Multiple Beatles members paid their respects to Martin when news of his death was made public.
Drummer Ringo Starr said on Twitter, "God bless George Martin peace and love to Judy and his family love Ringo and Barbara George will be missed."
And Paul McCartney said, "I have so many wonderful memories of this great man that will be with me forever. ... The world has lost a truly great man who left an indelible mark on my soul and the history of British music."
Martin's family and several spokespersons confirmed his death, although the cause is still unknown.
