Shock and grief – A small community outside of Denver is mourning the death of a teenage girl. KWGN has the details.
“A 17-year-old girl from Bailey dies after jumping out of a car along a busy highway. The state patrol says Catrina Fox’s mother was driving that car when she jumped out and was then hit by oncoming traffic.”
So far no one has been charged in this bizarre case. But community members and police are wondering -- why did she do this? KUSA reports.
“People close to the 17 year old say things weren’t always peaceful in Katrina’s life, some even saying at times she was troubled.”
The New York Post quotes one of Fox's friends saying …
"I think she was dealing with a lot of demons ... she went over the edge with her emotions."
But other reports add to the confusion. Friends say things were looking up. Fox talked about moving to California and how happy she was.
“The days before her death seemed happy and filled with good news as she announced that she passed the first half of her high school equivalency exam and was taken off probation for an unknown prior offence.”
So what exactly happened on that car ride home? That’s what everyone wants to know and that’s what officials are asking Catrina’s mother.
A friend tells the Denver Post..
“… Catrina and her mother had a great relationship...”
But goes on to say she...
“… thought she knew what happened, but it wasn't her place to say why her friend jumped out of the car.”
