Twenty-one years old and eighty-nine awards. Who am I? Taylor Swift, of course. The singer/songwriter now has a new award to add to that list - Billboard’s “Woman Of The Year” Award. Clevver TV has more details...
“According to Billboard.com, Taylor, who is just 21 years old is the youngest artist ever to receive the high honor. However, her multiple achievements, make her very worthy. In the last year alone, ‘T’ has been busy touring the world to promote her ‘Speak Now’ album which sold over a million copies in just its first week.”
This isn’t a surprise, as the award comes on the heel of countless Billboard honors in the past. Billboard.com lists a few...
“Her self-titled debut, released in 2006, holds the honor of longest-running album on the Billboard 200 since 2000 ... [and] ‘Fearless’ is the longest-running No. 1 album by a female country artist in Billboard 200 history.”
Swift has penned over 200 songs since she was 12 years old. Her first number one was “Our Song” and she was 18 years old when it hit number one. Now, on her latest album “Speak Now,” 11 of the 14 songs have already hit the charts within a week. (Youtube)
Young and powerful. She’s broken records for being the youngest award winner more than once. MTV notes...
“...She became the youngest person ever to win the top prize at the 43rd annual Country Music Association Awards [in 2009]: Entertainer of the Year.”
And Access Hollywood reports....
“It’s the latest honor for Swift, who became the youngest person to win the Grammy for best album for ‘Fearless’ in 2010.”
Billboard’s annual Women in Music Event, now in it’s sixth year, celebrates the most powerful and talented women in music. Beyonce and Fergie are among other recipients to receive Billboard’s “Woman Of The Year” Award.
