“Hama was the scene of a bloody crackdown on dissent nearly 30 years ago when the country was ruled by Assad’s father.
The president is offering to discuss reform with the opposition, but they refuse to talk while army raids on protesters continue. ”
But despite amateur footage continuing to be uploaded on YouTube, Syria’s Foreign Minister tells SKYNews there’s no military campaign in or around Hama.

Despite the regime’s denial, Amnesty International calls Syria’s crackdown -- crimes against humanity and is calling for trials at the International Criminal Court. ABC quotes the report:
“These crimes include murder, torture, arbitrary detention and other severe deprivation of liberty and other inhumane acts committed intentionally to cause great suffering or serious damage to mental or physical health “
The Syrian unrest has also created a refugee crisis across the Middle East and in North and East Africa . UPI reports, 17,000 Syrians have sought refuge in Rukey -- another 10,000 are already in camps near the border.
