Police say a shooting spree in Tulsa, Oklahoma left three dead and two critically wounded. Fox News has the details.

“Five people were shot, three have died, all in a span of about seven hours.(FLASH) All the victims when they were shot, within a five-mile radius in North Tulsa.”

The killer targeted both men and women — ranging in age from 31 to 54. As a KJRH anchor explains, police say none of the victims are related.

“They think someone drove through neighborhoods in north Tulsa, between 1 and 8 a.m., randomly shooting people just walking along the street.”

But the victims share a common thread — they’re all African-American. CNN reports.

“They say that he acted alone. The suspect is white and all the victims are African-American. Police say they’re not ruling out the possibility of a hate crime.”

As news of the possible hate crime spread, several members of Tulsa’s NAACP chapter gathered for an emergency meeting. A reporter with KOTV has the details.

ASHLEY KING: “They just wanted to let people know that they are doing something about this, and that the community is not just going to sit around and wait.”

Investigators aren’t calling it a hate crime. But the NAACP president told the Tulsa World he’s certain the shooting spree is indeed one.

“When asked if he believed the shootings were racially motivated, Blakney said that when there are reports that someone ‘systematically shot black folk, what is one left to believe?’”

The two survivors currently remain in critical condition in hospitals, but police say they’re expected to make it. A Tulsa police captain tells MSNBC he’s never seen so many shootings happen in such a short time in his 30 years with the department.
