You’ve heard about the dangers of drunk driving.

Dangers of texting while driving.

But what about the dangers of driving...in heels?

A survey of 2,000 people by British insurance comparison website Confused.com found nearly 40 percent of women say they drive in high heels.

An automotive columnist and safety expert agrees tells AOL —stilettos and pedals don’t mix.

“‘Women have been driving in high heels for years,’...’Part of the problem is that they are wearing these six-inch spike heels with these new risers on the bottom. So you're not getting a good feel of the pedal.’”

Confused.com is using Pinterest to host a contest that brings awareness to the dangers of wearing heels while driving through videos like this one.

The contest rules are simple. Confused.com asked women to pin a picture of their craziest heels on a specially-created pinboard for a chance to win safe driving shoes.

According to the confused.com survey — both men and women drive in other dangerous footwear, including flip flops, slippers, and bare feet.

AOL reports — driving barefoot in the UK is actually illegal. In the U.S. — you’re free to drive barefoot, or in high heels.
