That's unbelievable. Certainly, Specter did it to get reelected. And while he says the GOP is moving further and further right--which it probably is--I would also say that Democrats are pretty far left right now as well. Thus, the continuing problems with pushing bipartisanship. I'm nervous that this will do more harm than good. Not to give FoxNews too much credit, but he probably will mess up Dem elections.

I wish we really did live in that ideal world where it wasn't about reelection. It was about representing your constituents, standing up for what you believe in. There is no doubt Specter had political motivations, doing what he has to do to get reelected.
