“New video in to CNN. Liftoff. A Russian space capsule carrying space tourist Charles Simonyi has lifted off for the International Space Station. It is his second trip to the ISS.” (CNN)

As the space shuttle departs, the crew of the International Space Station is making room for their next guest, a Russian craft carrying an American space tourist.

Hello I’m Christina McAusland and you’re watching Newsy.com. That was video from CNN and NASA TV.

It’s been a busy week on the high frontier with a solar array deployment completed by the crew of the shuttle.

The arrays bring 25% more power to the station, just in time for the next guests….

Fox news brings us up to speed on the latest mission.

“Russia's expedition 19 launches from central Kazakhstan and with the shuttle discover still in space, having two spacecraft up at the same time marks a very rare occurrence. The Russian craft will also have the last space tourist as a passenger.” (FOX News)

Tourism is no small potatoes as MSNBC explains.

“How much would you pay for a ticket to outer space? Billionaire Charles Simonyi is shelling out $35 million to hitch another ride to the international space station.” (MSNBC)

Simonyi is paying more for this trip than for his last.  We go back to FOX News…

“…by the way that is a mark-up, from his first trip in '07 which cost him a mere $25 million. A bargain in today's dollar terms.” (FOX News)

Space Adventures.com, who brokered this trip - also offers a $100 million dollar round trip ticket to the moon. But, for that, you won’t land.

“By joining the Space Adventures Lunar Mission you will contribute to the dawning of a new era in space exploration and enter the history books alongside the great explorers of our time.” (Space Adventures)

Do you think space tourism represents the future of the space program?  Do you think it’s worth the money?
