Comic-con became a fairy tale battle ground over the weekend as two Snow White adaptations competed to be the “fairest of them all.”  TV Guide has the scoop.

“There are two Snow White movies in the works and the competition is on. Last week we saw the first photo of Lilly Collins from The Brothers Grimm: Snow White version, and she definitely looks the part with skin as white as snow and lips as red as blood. But then, came this; Kristin Stewart suited up in armor looking more like a warrior than a princess in Snow White and the Huntsman...”

Both films will be darker than their Disney counterpart -- no helpful woodland critters here. But the two films will be drastically different. The Collins’s version will still have some comedic elements and the Stewart version will be more of an action adventure film.

A Jezebel blogger is hesitant to believe that the action will be worth the hype.

“We’ll have to wait and see whether or not there will be real girl power on display or just some pandering, Suckerpunch-style look-at-a-hot-girl-be-violent spectacle masquerading as empowerment.”

Some are concerned that Stewart not only doesn’t look the part but also can’t handle the role. A writer from Dlisted rips into the actress’s skills.

“How are we going to know the difference between Snow White in an apple-induced coma and Snow White not in an apple-induced coma since Kristen Stewart always looks like she’s been bitten by the Lunesta moth.”

One of the biggest concerns is that these two movies will be released just 10 weeks apart. Producer Joe Roth tells the Walls Street Journal there’s a chance viewers might go to both films.

“...while he was an executive at Disney, they released ‘Armageddon’ seven weeks after ‘Deep Impact,’ and both made money. Not only that, he said that according to research, people were more likely to see ‘Armageddon’ if they’d seen ‘Deep Impact’ first.”

Both films are expected to hit theaters next spring.
