Monday, the finalists for College football's highest honor were announced.

The overwhelming favorite for the Heisman is freshman Florida State QB Jameis Winston who's led his team to an undefeated season while racking up a staggering 3,800 yards and 38 touchdowns on the season. (Via CBS)

But most acknowledge Winston's spectacular year of football would have all been for nothing had it not been for this announcement.

"We've carefully examined all the evidence in this case, and we have concluded that no charges will be filed against anyone in this case." (Via ESPN)

Winston was accused of sexual assault by a female FSU student, but the state attorney general decided not to pursue charges. (Via News 12 Long Island)

Back for the second year in a row is Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M. Manziel won the Heisman Trophy last year and was the first freshman to do so in the award's 77-year history. (Via KTRK)

Statistically, Manziel is even better this year, finishing the season with more yards and more TDs but his Aggies have struggled to win games.

And of course, there's the All-American QB A.J. McCarron who some argue lost his Heisman hopes during a play where he wasn't even on the field. (Via Sports Illustrated)

"It was an upset to end all upsets, a stunner that rocked the college football world and elevated an already epic battle to an instant classic."

While McCarron's been the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide, the program has rolled to two national titles in a row and only lost three games in three seasons.

Auburn's Tre Mason seemed to be on the edge of the Heisman trophy conversation for most of the season, but after rushing for a combined 468 yards in the two most important games of his college career, voters have taken notice. Mason scored four touchdowns in the SEC championship and his headed to the BCS National Championship to face Florida State.

This year's crop marks the most Heisman candidates to be selected for the big ceremony since 1994. The winner will be announced Saturday.
