A scary situation last night near one of the most secure buildings in the U.S. -- The White House. WTTG reports from the scene...
“Uh, Brian, U.S. Park Police responded to reports of shots fired at 9:30 tonight at 16th and Constitution, that is basically right behind the White House.
“We have some video of officers going over that car, they looked through it, every inch of it, and they found exactly what they were looking for. Just seconds ago U.S. Park Police Sergeant David Schlosser confirmed they found a rifle inside the vehicle.”
The media was left in a tough situation during the breaking news -- one police agency confirmed there was a shooting, while another said it was only investigating reports of a shooting. WUSA has more...
“Right now there are two conflicting reports from different police agencies as to exactly what happened. The first according to D.C. police on the scene said gunfire between two cars was exchanged between 16th and Constitution.”
“Now U.S. Park Police say they’re the ones in charge of the investigation and they have no evidence suggesting any shots were fired.”
An official told CNN the weapon was an AK-47 style rifle. So was there any link between the White House and the incident? The Huffington Post writes...
“...a law enforcement source said that the Secret Service saw the incident and put out a description on the two vehicles ... The source did not believe the shots were directed at the White House, speculating that it was probably an issue between the two vehicles.”
As for first family? There was really nothing to be worried about. They were more than 2000 miles away when the incident happened. Fox News’ Chief White House correspondent was traveling with the President, tweeting...
