At least two people are injured and a suspect is in custody after a Thursday morning shooting at a California high school. Headline News and KGET explain what happened.

“Two people were shot at Taft High School... the shooting happened at about 9am local time as classes got underway and authorities say the shooter was taken into custody about 20 minutes later.”

“One victim only received minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene while the other victim was airlifted at the hospital.”

KBAK confirmed that one of the victims and the shooting suspect were both students at Taft. This incident is just the latest act of gun violence that has taken place at or near a school, but unfortunately not the only incident this week.

Chicago authorities arrested a 13-year old Chicago boy for bringing a gun and ammunition to an elementary school on Wednesday. School officials found bullets in the boy’s locker and authorities have charged him with a felony.

On the heels of this shooting, the Newtown massacre and others, Vice President Joe Biden met with representatives of hunting and wildlife interests groups Thursday as well as gun rights groups as the head of the presidents gun violence task force.

Biden said he plans to present policy recommendations to President Barack Obama on Tuesday to stem gun violence. One of those recommendations could include an “executive order”, although the White House hasn’t given specifics.
