The New York Times is in the spotlight after it posted a picture of a naked chick showing off her breasts and thighs….a naked chicken that is. Now, the article called “Chicken’s attraction is truly skin deep” is ruffling some feathers.
The Atlantic Wire quotes PETA’s founder and president, who finds the chicken’s seductive pose “sickly.” (Image source: The New York Times)
"When I saw it I just couldn't believe that an editor of The New York Times would find it acceptable. It's downright offensive, not just to people who care about animals but almost to everyone. It's a plucked, beheaded, young chicken in a young pose."
A New York Times photo editor fired back -- arguing the picture is simply art.
"My original concept was sort of a languid nude... it became a completely different vibe. The chicken had attitude."
Guests on KPNX sided with the Times -- saying there’s no reason for the chicken to offend.
“Well, it’s art. I think it’s just another form of art.”
“It’s hilarious like... no big deal.”
“I respect their opinion because they have a voice and they are making an effort, but it’s a healthy protein.”
Now, the naked chick even has its own Twitter feed with more than 1,000 followers.
“Thanks for all the comments on my skin. I don't wax. 100% plucked.”
Despite PETA’s disagreement with the “sexy” ad, the animal rights group are no strangers to sex. They plan to launch a porn site to get their message across.
