When it comes to being the world’s unluckiest - lucky man, Nevada resident Andrew Linn may take the cake.

The 28-year-old ex-Marine survived a tour in Iraq, followed by a 75 MPH car crash with a drunk driver. But his latest accident...well let’s just say the third time really is a charm.

“The Nevada man was impaled by a fence post about this diameter, two inches in diameter while he was driving. It came through the front windshield, went through his mouth, out the back of his head, and he survived it all. That’s the X-ray of Andrew Linn’s head, right after his car crash five months ago.”

According to reports, Linn fell asleep behind the wheel. His car steered off course and straight into a chain link fence, resulting in the accident. One doctor tells ABC News, had the pole hit just centimeters in any other direction, Linn would be a dead man.

“It went through like this, underneath his nose, and coming out. Couple centimeters over in this direction, and take a look at this picture. You’ll see it would have severed his spinal chord. Couple centimeters down in this direction like this, look at what it would have done if it had gone down. It would have cut his carotid artery or his jugular, he would have bled out.  And had it been a couple centimeters up like this it would have taken off the bottom of his brain, his brain stem which controls breathing and he would have died.”

Even crazier is that Linn was awake the entire time this was taking place, but was unaware of everything. As he tells Sky News, it wasn’t until after he woke up that he eventually learned about his brush with death.

“It was a few days later I woke up and they kinda slowly worked me into it. You know they didn’t tell me, ‘hey you had a pipe go through your face’, you know they said ‘hey look you were in an accident, you had to have surgery on your neck, but you’re gonna be fine.’  Luckily they slowly just eased me into everything, and you know, but I think it was the next day or so, day and a half later - told me, ‘you know you had a pipe go through your face, and you’re gonna be fine, you look fine.”

Think it was scary for him, try being his wife. As she tells the Today Show - it was one of the longest drives of her life.

“Well I was in complete shock, you know we were in Las Vegas for Thanksgiving and like you said, I didn’t actually get the call, and that was what really worried me. His father was the one that got the call from the hospital and then contacted me. And I knew it was bad because one he didn’t call and two he didn’t tell somebody, ‘call my wife’. So I was … it was a long ride to the hospital."

Andy’s story is being called nothing short of a miracle, from doctors to the man himself. Linn told NBC he just plans on enjoying his second chance at life by spending it with the ones he loves.
