At least one person, believed to a be the shooter, is dead after police in Newtown, Connecticut responded to reports of a shooting at an elementary school Friday morning. Here's WABC.

“Police report that the school is now cleared of shooters, but they are still treating it as an active shooter situation and all schools in the district remain locked down.”

Both local and state police are on the scene. WVIT has the latest on the situation.

“We've also just confirmed that state police did go room by room. actually, they're still in that process, going room by room to evacuate the school to make sure that these kids are out.”

WFSB reports parents are being asked to stay by the phone but NOT to go to the school.
