“What an absolutely beautiful day it is and it is my honor to speak to all Alaskans, to our Alaskan family this last time as your Governor.” KTUU
“Last state twitter. Thank you Alaska! I love you. God bless Alaska. God bless the U.S.A.” Twitter
Sarah Palin exited the Alaska governor’s mansion this weekend -- a year-and-a-half before her first term in office was set to expire.
As the resignation goes into effect, the media are examining poll numbers to gauge whether the early exit will help her or hurt her political future?
We’re looking at different perspectives on the former Republican vice presidential nominee’s resignation.
First, CNN political analyst Candy Crowley paints a picture of Palin as someone whose popularity has faded across the board.
Just look at the numbers she says:
“The latest ABC-Washington Post poll found that 53 percent of Americans view Palin negatively, 40 percent see her positively. Worse, four in ten Republicans don’t think Palin understands complex issues.”
But that’s not the view of Fox & Friends’ co-hosts Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy,
They say people love Sarah Palin – and they have different numbers prove it.
“Right now seven out of 10 Republicans have a positive opinion of her. That’s not bad. If you travel around the country she is awfully, awfully popular.”
MSNBC asks, so what’s the significance of Palin’s conflicting poll numbers?
As CQPolitics’ David Hawkings explains, it means she’s got to get her act together.
“She has time but she obviously can’t fritter it away. She has to reinvent herself, she has to find a new job for herself, probably that will mean running for office again.”
Do you think this is the last we’ll see of Sarah Palin? If not, what do you think her next move will be?
