Take one part kidnapping, and one part 80s rock -- what do you get? A divorce. Reality stars Tareq and Michaele Salahi are through. Feel like you missed the buildup? Fox’s Shepard Smith wraps up the week’s events into layman’s terms.

“Earlier this week the husband reported the wife was kidnapped. Turned out she had just run off with a guitarist from Journey, obviously... and now it seems man Salahi has filed for divorce from woman Salahi, you know, because the wife ran off with a guitarist.”

That guitarist is Neal Schon -- and the band is 80s mega rock band Journey. HLN reports not only is Tareq feeling betrayed by his wife -- he was also deceived by the rock idols.

ANCHOR: “The Salahi’s have a history with Journey."
HOLT: ‘He feels very betrayed number one by Journey and the band, because he felt they were friends. He is crushed right now.”

Of course, Michaele and Neal have their own history. They first met up in 1995 and continued an affair while Michaele was married. ABC News reports, Tareq might have seen it coming while filing for the split.

“Tareq filed for divorce Friday in Warren County Virgina, he says of his wife in court documents, ‘She continually exposes our friend and acquaintances to her adulterous relationship and has flaunted the same throughout the community, the nation, and indeed the world...’”

Author Diane Dimond writes in the Daily Beast, while researching her book on the Salahis, Michaele admitted,

“Schon... was one of the true loves of her life. Long ago, as she dated both Schon and Tareq Salahi simultaneously, she had to make a difficult decision.”

Reality star and friend Gina Kehoe backs up Mr. Salahi -- and finds it hard to believe Michaele’s rock star double life will be truly fulfilling.

“I think he truly was concerned about his wife's whereabouts and a normal person would be... From what I understand, her health isn't that good. Life on the road is not going to be such a great thing for her.” (HLN)

The Salahi’s eight year marriage was highlighted with White House party crashing and a spot on Bravo’s reality show The Real Housewives of DC.

Journey’s camp also told ABC they have banned Tareq from all their future shows -- for life.
