It's another sex scandal but with a twist. This time political opponents to the Russian government were caught on tape. So far six men have been filmed sleeping with amateur model Ekaterina Gerasimova.
Here The Huffington Post shows the editor of Russian Newsweek caught with his pants down, literally, snorting coke. Although the married editor didn't confirm his identity he did say he was caught in a trap to be used against him as blackmail.
A leader in the youth solidarity movement also caught in the sex trap tells Al Jazeera English plots like these are expected when you belong to an opposition party.
"Any normal opposition activist in an authoritarian regime has a healthy sense of paranoia if you sense something's wrong it's better to follow your instinct. The fact that I fled the apartment at that point served me well."
The opposition leader wants officials to investigate the origins of the video so those who posted it can be prosecuted. Under law distribution of porn can be punished with up to two years in prison.
Right TV, a gossip and entertainment blog, also weighs in on the scandal and the government's potential involvement.
"She is probably getting paid very well for this I would imagine...And I'm wondering if the United States does anything like that."
Foreign Policy reports many Russians were unfazed and more disturbed by the corrupt methods than the behavior.
And these men seem to know it. Political satirist, Viktor Shenderovich, known as Russia's Jon Stewart, was another married victim of the sex trap. He told Foreign Policy he makes no apologies for his behavior.
"I possessed Katya without any particular enjoyment... I have never announced anywhere that I am monogamous... If anything, I'd say I dispatched my male duties satisfactorily."
So, who's worse? The men caught on tape? Or those capturing it on video?
