From playboy to parliament, Russia’s ‘sexiest woman’, Maria Kozhevnikova is set to take up a seat in the countries parliament.

The busty blonde posed 2 years ago for the cover of Playboy, after breaking up with her boyfriend. The new MP was also previously the lead singer of Russian pop group Love Stories, and was crowned Russian Maxim's sexiest woman for 2011.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin motives for appointing the former playboy model copped a beating-- considering his falling popularity and allegations that the December 4 parliamentary elections were falsified.

The Daily Mail’s reads...

“Who said politics was boring? 'Russia's sexiest woman' prepares to take her seat in Putin's parliament … If you're in need of a popularity boost, it always helps to have your country's 'sexiest woman' on your side.”

JOE.IE agrees with the Daily Mail, also commenting that the move was an attempt to win voters back.

Under fire Russian leader Vladimir Putin has taken an unusual step in presumably placating voters by appointing a former Playboy bunny to the Russian parliament.”

Meanwhile Technorati referred to the move as being in the realm of the offbeat and bizarre global politics. It preferred to use a bit of tongue-in-cheek with its headline, alluding to well, we’re sure you can work this one out for yourself...

“Playboy Playmate Rides Vladimir Putin to Top Position”

Despite all the critics - Blogger aibob thinks the move is a step forward for Russian politics saying...

“Russia needs someone that represents the new type of young generation, the hot and sexy generation.”

Ninemsn reports that Kozhevnikova responded to critics with a blog post saying...

"Yeah blond! Yeah MP! So what?"

Kozhevnikova is set to take her seat in parliament on December 21st.
