And the race is on!!
A number of media outlets are saying the GOP race didn’t even begin until Texas Governor Rick Perry threw in his hat.
It is time to get America working and that is why with the support of my family and the unwavering belief of the goodness of America. I declare to you today as a candidate for President of the United States.
Perry’s announcement stole the spotlight away from the Iowa Ames Straw Poll -- leaving democrats and republicans to ponder over what will become of the GOP race.
Here’s Abc News...
“What I think Piana the thing that he brings to the field is a combination of assets that no other candidate seems to have right now. He not only has the passion of a lot of conservative voters he speaks both to the economic conservatives and to the social conservatives and he has ten years as governor which gives him a tremendous amount of credibility.”
Perry might have a strong background in politics, but that doesn’t impress Chair of the Democratic National Committe Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz...
“Well quite frankly I am not worried about if its Mitt Romney or any of the other’s nine or ten candidates on the other side the because the spent the last few days showing America that their priority is to out right-wing each other to adhere to the rigid structures of the the tea party.”
Former Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee tells Fox what kind of change Perry can bring to the race...
“It changes the race in that you have a very strong candidate coming in. He’ll lots of money, he’ll the govenor of a large state he will have alot of grass root support not just from texas but he will be attractive to the tea party and he will fighting with Michelle Bauchmann to be able to sort of garner and become the candidate of the tea party”
Finally, the Christian Science Monitor says Perry’s timing was immaculate...
