Multiple media outlets are now reporting Urban Meyer will take the head coaching job at Ohio State. SportsbyBrooks writes...
“Multiple sources close to the Ohio State football program have confirmed that Urban Meyer is assembling a coaching staff … The deal between Meyer and Ohio State was consummated in principle earlier this week in Columbus but not signed. It includes a multi-year contract that will make Meyer once again one of college football’s highest paid coaches.”
A blogger for Cleveland.com says this was in the works for a while.
“As soon as Meyer stepped away from Florida after last season, following national titles in 2006 and 2008, he became a logical candidate as the next coach of the Buckeyes. If Meyer was ever going to coach again in college, only Ohio State and Notre Dame fit his profile, personally and professionally, as logical next steps.”

But a writer for the Bleacher Report thinks there’s a different big time school Meyer should be eyeing, writing...
“The rumors of Urban Meyer to the Ohio State Buckeyes may be a perfect fit for the ailing Buckeye nation, but it’s not the right move for Meyer. As good as the Ohio State job seems to the Ohio native, there is a much better opportunity if Meyer wants the challenge. Taking the helm at Penn State.”
As for his coaching staff, it could be pretty high profile. Here’s KSAZ...
“Some reports have Meyer bringing over some major assistants as well such as Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Spielman. But the latest report has Urban Meyer saying they’re all rumors, for now.”
The move has at least one fan of rival Michigan quivering in his boots, writing on Ology...
“There are two problems with this, for a Michigan fan: Urban Meyer is a really good coach, and he was already way too easy to hate. If he becomes coach of Ohio State, I'll somehow find myself hating the Buckeyes even more, and I very well may have to deal with Ohio State once again being a great football program.”
