Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon is tending to a quarter-sized gash on her head after being hit by a car Wednesday morning,

The 35-year-old actress was reportedly jogging in an unmarked crosswalk in Santa Monica when the car hit her. CNN says Witherspoon is lucky the accident wasn’t more serious.

It was driven by an 84–year-old woman. Luckily for Reese the car was only traveling at around 20 miles per hour. Santa Monica Police are calling this incident minor but Cara, you have got to imagine it was a big scare for Reese and her family, and for her fans when they found out.”

Several news outlets including MTV and US Weekly reported that Witherspoon was hospitalized and released later that day, but LaLate News has a different story.

"The impact is not described as a “crash” but a “hit”. Initial news reports, claiming that Witherspoon was “hospitalized”, have also been verified as false."

But KCAL News went to the witnesses, interviewing a man who lives near the accident site. According to their report, the intersection was an accident waiting to happen.

“People come down 20th Street too fast. This is a residential neighborhood and we’ve tried to get a stop sign put in there for a few years now and haven’t been able to do it.”

So why’s it such a big deal?  Seems everyone loves a funny blonde.
Even the paparozzi is blowing kisses -- and making well wishes to the Hollywood Star.  PopBytes says -- hard to hate the walk the line starlet.

“I’m glad Reese is okay and that she isn’t facing any serious or permanent injuries. Because everyone here likes her, even if we do also like making fun of her. All our mockery comes from love here. “

Witherspoon suffered only minor injuries and is resting ‘comfortably’ at home with her husband and two kids.
