Front and center in American politics – Former Vice President Dick Cheney.

His Face the Nation appearance set off a firestorm…

We begin with one of the most talked about aspects of the CBS interview – interrogation techniques used on terrorism suspects… Here’s how Cheney sees it...

“The reason we went to the justice department wasn’t because we felt we were going to take some kind of free hand assault on these people that we were in the torture business. We weren’t.”
(CBS News)

In a segment called – Cheney on the Attack on CNN – A Republican strategist tells CNN’s Cooper Cheney was forced into a defensive role.

“Cooper:  do you think he was saying it because he actually believes it or is it to protect his legacy?
Ed Rollins: Well, I think to a certain extent he feels he’s being personally attacked. I think to a certain extent Bush is not going to defend himself so he feels it’s his role to go do that.”
(CNN)

Back on Face the Nation – switching to politics, Cheney was asked who he supports more, Rush Limbaugh or Colin Powell?

“If I had to choose in terms of being Republican, I would have to go with Rush Limbaugh. My take was Colin had left the party. I didn’t know he was a Republican.”
(CBS News)

A writer for The Young Turks, takes a comical and hard-edged approach in a piece for the Huffington Post – saying Republicans should run Cheney for president in 2012...

“They think he's doing God's work out there, defending the seemingly indefensible. And that he is the one man trying to keep this country safe. Ok, great. Then have at it, hoss.”
(Huffington Post)

Rush Limbaugh asks more seriously “what motivates Dick Cheney” – and also – “what motivates the Democrats?”

Here’s his view….

“What motivates Dick Cheney? Love of country, national interest. He knows that [the Obama Democrats are] going to try to destroy him as often as he speaks up.  He knows it.  That's the MO, the modus operandi of the Obama Democrats, is to destroy anybody who speaks up.” (RushLimbaugh.com)

As always – we invite you to speak up and join the debate – share your comments, check out our sources.
