The iPhone 4s battery has some customers seeing red. The San Francisco Chronicle reports, a battery drainage issue might be undermining Apple’s latest release.
“Could this be a Battery Brouhaha? A Batterygate? (So named after last year’s “antenna gate” with the iPhone 4). Or is it much ado about nothing?”
Several iPhone users have flooded the web complaining about the phone’s charge. Some took to Apple’s forums claiming losses as much as
“a percentage every few minutes under light usage...even when locked/asleep.”
Many in the media are offering their tips to keep those iPhones running. Here’s KNBC.
“Some folks are doing some investigation like iLounge.com, they actually compared the old iPhone 4 to the new iPhone 4s. You can see that the iPhone 4s is only good when they're actually using the phone or using Facetime. It will last longer than the old iPHONE 4. Then the folks over at iDownload Blog say they the problem is on your location, your timezone location to be precise. They went into system services and just turned off the timezone and they said they saved the battery.”
Just turn off the timezone and GPS? Well...why not all the apps too while you’re at it. An analyst on CNET says it’s out of the user’s hands to fix the problem and this might be the only way to slow the drain.
“It’s not fair that we have to disable useful features for better battery life, but until Apple releases a fix, this could be the best solution."
But finally a blogger for Mobot says not to shut everything down just yet, as we’re not sure that’s the fix.
“With Apple's own engineer admitting the company doesn't have any idea what is behind the glitch as yet, we'd advise taking any such theories with a pinch of salt at this stage.”
No word yet on the official reason reason for the battery issues, Apple is currently running diagnostics to weed out a possible software problem.
