As more alleged victims come forward following former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky’s arrest, the Harrisburg Patriot-News reports his lawyer, Joe Amendola, is thinking about pleading guilty.
"That could happen if more allegations come forth and if Jerry gets to the point where he realizes fighting against more than the original allegations might be a real uphill battle.”
But Amendola now denies a plea deal is on the horizon -- telling Fox News the newspaper story is quote “not accurate.” But the reporter who conducted the interview for the Patriot-News stands by the story on her Twitter account.
“Our Sandusky story today is in complete agreement with Joe Amendola statement. Anyone who says different is drawing big conclusions.”
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh’s WTAE attempts to clear up the confusion.
“He says he was asked a 'what if' question during a recent interview where he responded that if 15 or 20 new alleged victims came forward, that he would have to discuss other possible alternatives with Sandusky, in addition to the planned course of defending him.”
While Sandusky maintains his innocence -- Philadelphia’s WTXF reports his attorney’s reported flip flop comes a day after the first lawsuit against Sandusky.
“The man, now 29 years old, went to authorities for the first time in his life Tuesday. He filed the first civil suit in this whole ordeal Wednesday -- saying Sandusky raped him more than 100 times, starting when he was just ten years old, until he was fourteen.”
Sandusky will be in court December 13 for a preliminary hearing -- the first opportunity for him to face his accusers.
