Black cats are luckier than you think—At least for one family in New York.
The Myers were out of town for July 4th weekend when they received a call about their family pet—adding some unexpected fireworks.
“Meet Glouchester, better known as G to his owners. This friendly face was the subject of plenty of fireworks on the fourth of July surviving a 20-story crunch from an Upper West Side apartment building. The cat crash-landed on the pavement with barely a scratch. ‘In all the years we’ve been here he’s never even looked at the window let alone peaked his head out or anything. I assume he saw something and leaned out and tried to take a swing at it.’”
Daily Mail says the Myers are thankful for their cat sitter, who noticed the absent animal...
“…when she was not greeted by Gloucester at the door, and went downstairs to find him unconscious. A doorman and tenant were huddled around the cat and he was taken to an emergency vet.”
CBS reports the Myers found the fearless feline, now called “Super G,” 16 years ago in an abandoned building.
The family says -- they don’t plan on leaving the window open anymore.
“According to the vet, when you’re 10 floors or above, you actually have an increased chance of surviving it, because you have a chance to kind of right yourself and get ready to land.”
Owner Barry Myers tells the New York Post, Super G didn’t even chip a tooth -- but the vet says it could’ve been much worse.
“He’s lucky to be alive. Most cats would die outright, or suffer serious injuries. He made a miraculous recovery.”
According to Gather, Super G showed no signs of trauma from the fall and is expected to make a full recovery.
